Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is why Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
